The Amazing Digital Circus.

It’s insane how much publicity this show has got, and it’s only a SINGLE episode. I think we can attribute this to the terribly brainrotted gen alpha, and the main character being a girl… but I mean, come on, have you seen Pomni? They should rename the show to The Amazing Digital Baddie, since she is the only relevant character anyways.

A summary of Discord screensharing on Linux.

HUGE UPDATE

2024–11–26

Discord now seemingly supports both Wayland screen and audio sharing! 🎉

Much of this blog post will soon be irrelevant, but I won’t be editing it just yet for archival purposes.

Support is currently only available on Discord Canary… but it works, I tested it! :)

Some things I’ve noticed about it so far:

  • Audio stream selection is strange (no single app support, seems to be share all system audio or none)
  • Audio still gets down-mixed to mono
  • I could only get it working with Discord running on XWayland. With native Wayland, the screenshare was a black screen no matter what I picked on the desktop portal. I also experienced rendering bugs with the application itself (frozen frame on bottom ~10%), but that’s besides the topic.

Does Discord screensharing work on Linux?

If you’re on X11 then yes. But if you’re on Wayland… then no.

How about screensharing with audio?

Nope. No official support at all.
